The Dehara City Gym features an external Levitate/Magnetism effect which causes all Electric and Steel-type Pokemon to be lifted into the air – making them immune to Ground-type moves.
Typically, an ideal team against Galavan’s Pokemon would feature Ground-type. But due to the Levitate conditions, it’s best to use a mix of Fighting, Grass, and Fire-type Pokemon. Another strategy is to use Ground-types that have non-Ground moves.
Dehara City Gym Puzzle

This gym features several platforms in the ground which need to be traversed to disable specific electric barriers blocking your path. The objective is to disable all barriers between you and Galavan. Here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to solve the puzzle.
Step 1: From the entrance, use the platform on your right. This takes you over near two different platforms.

Step 2: Between the two platforms in the ground, fall through the one on the left.

Step 3: From here, continue on the path towards the left leading to a Trainer. This is an unskippable battle.

After the battle, switch on the bulb located near Super Nerd Ezra. Then make your way back to where you came from near the start of the gym.
Step 4: Now fall through the trap at the top of the room to reach the next area.

Step 5: Now use the lift in front of you to reach the Trainer across the room. This battle is optional and can be skipped if you time your run correctly, though it may be better to trigger it since you’ll have to come back this way later, so it’ll make the way back easier.

After the fight, continue on the same path up and use the platform at the end to reach the next area.
Step 6: On this new floor, walk onto the platform just south of you.

Step 7: Now make your way down to the trap on the other end of the room. You’ll have to battle the Trainer guarding the path here.

Step 8: Once you’re down, use the platform directly to your right to reach the next area.

Step 9: Turn the bulb on, then go back to the previous room.

Step 10: From here, head up towards the northern end of the room and walk onto the platform located here.

Step 11: On this new floor, follow the path going left until you reach the other end of the room and use the trap door.
A Trainer guards the path here, but this battle can be skipped if you time your run correctly.

After the battle just go to the end of the corridor and use the platform to go up to a smaller room.
Step 12: In this smaller room, switch on the bulb here. You’ll have to battle an unskippable Trainer to do this. But once that’s done, make your way back to the previous room.

Step 13: Then go back down the corridor and use the trap door at the other end of the room – this takes you back to the area you initially came from.

Step 14: Now back on this floor, the electric barrier opposite to you will be disabled.
So go down through this area and turn left to follow this new corridor and reach the end of the room, skipping over the first trap door that you see.
A skippable Trainer guards this path at the end.

After the battle, use the trap door above this trainer to move forward.
Step 15: Now on this new floor, move onto the nearby platform to continue.

Step 16: You’ll find a bulb here. Switch this on, and then make your way back to the gym’s entrance.

Step 17: From the gym’s entrance, use the lift on the left side of the room and fall through the platform on this side.

Step 18: Follow the path heading towards the right. An unskippable Trainer guards this area.

Afterward, use the trap door next to him to move on to the next area.
Step 19: You’ll find the final bulb here. Switch this on and head back to the prior room.

Step 20: Head to the top of the room. The electric barrier here will now be disabled and the path to Galavan will be guarded by a Trainer. This battle cannot be skipped.

Tips for Defeating Galavan

Use Ground-type Advantage: Most of Galavan’s Pokemon have Electric-type attacks. To counter this, you can use a couple of Ground-type Pokemon in your squad since they’re immune to Electric attacks. This can help you shed out damage to Galavan without taking any in return. However, this strategy may be less useful if Manectric is out, since its Ice Fang move is super-effective against Ground-types.
Utilize Gravity: Galavan’s main source of protection is the Levitate effect providing his Pokemon immunity to Ground-type moves. Using the move Gravity disables this Levitating effect, causing a massive disruption to Galavan’s defenses. Several Psychic-type Pokemon can learn this move through level-up. It’s a good idea to include at least one Pokemon in your squad that can disable the Levitating effect, if possible.
Include Camerupt: This is an ideal Pokemon to counter Galavan. Camerupt is a Ground and Fire dual-type Pokemon. Due to this, it is immune to all Electric attacks while also packing a punch with its Fire moves.
Camerupt cannot be caught in the wild, so you’ll have to evolve a Numel to obtain one. Numel can be commonly found on Route 4 and the Cinder Volcano.
