The S.S. Marine is one of the many ways to get from West Borrius to East Borrius (and vice versa). But it is only available as a mode of transportation after you become Pokemon Champion.

After boarding the ship from either Seaport City or Polder Town, a timer begins.

If you manage to find and defeat a set number of Trainers aboard the vessel within five blows of the ship’s whistle (three minutes, with each whistle at 45 second intervals), then you will win a prized item such as a Rare Candy or an Ability Capsule.

The Sailor who speaks to you at the beginning informs you how many Trainers are on board each voyage. If you have yet to beat the challenge, then the number is always three. After that, the number could be as high as six Trainers.

Be aware that the Trainers are all in their cabins, and that speaking to people in the hallways only wastes your time. There are also a number of Time Wasters on board who will deliberately force you into conversation and speed up the time of the next whistle blown, so you could lose up to 45 seconds of searching time.

Tip: There is an additional difficulty mode: if you agree to hand in your Cube at the beginning of the voyage, meaning no items can be used, then you will win five times as many prizes as you ordinarily would have done.

When the voyage is complete, you will be dropped off at the arrival port, which will be Polder Town if you left from Seaport City, or vice versa.
