Objectives | Find 10 Emeralds in Crystal Peak |
Reward | Item: Jade Orb |
After you become Pokémon Champion, the way to manipulate Crystal Peak’s color totems becomes available. If you use it to access a chamber on B1F, a Kindler there will give you a mission to find 10 Emeralds buried under different colors of crystals. If you succeed, he’ll give you a Jade Orb.
Starting the Mission

Once you’ve become Pokémon Champion, fly to Crystal Peak.
You’ll end up at the Cootes Bog entrance.

Go inside the cavern entrance and turn right, past the healing Chansey.

Smash one of the rocks blocking the passage and climb down the ladder to B1F.

From the ladder, go south, and then surf east across the pond.
Turn north when you see the entrance to the cavern with the Hiker.

Now that you’re Pokémon Champion, you can activate the totems in this chamber.

When you activate a colored totem by pushing its crystal up, you remove the corresponding colored crystal from the caverns. This opens new paths, reveals hidden items, and changes the way you can move through Crystal Peak.
To get started on this mission, activate all three totems. All of the colored crystals should disappear, revealing a path north.

You’ll see a T-junction at the end of that passage – take the right fork and follow it all the way to the end.

The Kindler here is looking for ten emeralds, and they’re hidden beneath different colored crystals all across Crystal Peak.
How to Complete
Emerald #1
Since you’ve already removed all the crystals from this area, the first emerald is very easy to find.

Go back to the previous intersection and go down the western fork this time. You’ll see the emerald lying on the cavern floor.
Emerald #2
For the second emerald, go back to the totem chamber.

Deactivate the blue totem so that blue colored crystals (and the multicolored crystals like the one blocking the path north) are the only ones that remain.
Then, go southeast and climb the ladder to 1F.

Because the blue crystals are still in the cavern, you’ll be able to climb down the cliff into the main chamber.

You’ll spot the second emerald immediately on the cave floor next to a rock.

Emerald #3

Go back to the totem chamber and make it so the yellow totem is the only one that is activated.
Then, go to the main cavern in 1F and start surfing south.

Surf south, following the water all the way.

Pass the scientist until you come to the shore on the southern side, then keep going down that passage.

You will pass a blue totem – leave it alone for now – and you’ll be able to pass through some orange crystals to the southern side of the chamber.

You’ll come to an area with a path south and two orange climbing walls to the west and east respectively.
Climb the east wall and follow the ledge around.

You’ll come to a ladder leading down into a chamber with the third emerald.

Emerald #4
Go back west and climb the western orange crystals this time, following that ledge around.

The fourth emerald will be lying on the floor along this passage.
Emerald #5
Return to the totem chamber and activate the orange and yellow totems.

Because the blue crystals are required to get down into the main chamber of 1F, you’ll have to leave that totem alone.
However, it’s not the only blue totem in the caverns – you passed one earlier, in the southern section.

Head to it and activate it. This should get rid of all of the crystals.
From that totem, walk south and then east past a now-open doorway, which you can ignore unless you want a Raid Den or an Aerodactylite.

For now, keep going east, surfing into the pond.
Go north and up the waterfall.

The fifth emerald will be lying at the top of the waterfall.

Emerald #6

Go back to the totem chamber again and make sure the orange totem is the only one activated.

Then go back to the blue totem on 1F and activate that, leaving yellow crystals as the only color in Crystal Peak.

Head to the northwest corner of the main cavern and climb up the yellow crystal wall to the upper ledges.

Follow the ledge all the way south and turn west – you’ll see an opening into another chamber.

Now that the blue and orange crystals are gone, you can safely traverse this chamber. Surf west into the water and follow it all the way along as it hooks around.

Continue surfing until you see a dry space in the middle of the chamber with a trainer on it.

This is the Route Master Krystal, who won’t fight you unless you’ve beaten all the other trainers in Crystal Peak.
The sixth emerald is here with her.
Emeralds #7 and 8

Go back to the main cavern area and deactivate the blue totem. Then, head southeast.

Surf into the pond and you’ll see a cave entrance in the eastern wall. This leads to a new passage.

It’s got blue crystals leading to it though, which is why it’s important that the blue totem be deactivated.

You’ll need to pass a couple of goons from the Science Society, who will challenge you to a Double Battle if you don’t challenge them to a single battle first.
Once you do that, keep going southeast until you see another cave exit.
If the orange totem is deactivated, you’ll see the eighth emerald lying just next to the cave exit.

The seventh emerald is slightly more complicated to get – head through the exit here.

This leads out into Cube Corp., the headquarters of the Science Society and a fast travel Fly point, if you haven’t been here already – it’s also accessible through Redwood Forest.
Tip: Make sure you get the Fly point before you continue, and check if you have an Escape Rope handy.
Then go back into Crystal Peak and head back to the blue totem.

Activate it so that the blue crystals vanish from the caverns. This means that the previous passage is now inaccessible.
But use the Escape Rope and you’ll end up back at the Cube Corp. side, assuming that’s the last entrance you came in from. If not, simply fly to the Cube Corp. Fly point.
With that little trick, the blue crystals covering the seventh emerald in the corner of the Cube Corp. passage are now gone, and you can pick it up.

Emerald #9

Go back to the totem chamber and reset things so that no totems are active.
Then go to the main cavern, climb the western cliff and follow the upper ledge all the way around to the intersection you were at before, with the entrance leading to Krystal’s chamber to the west.
This time, go east and climb down the yellow crystals.

Follow that path along and it will take you to an exit leading to the exterior of Crystal Peak.

Keep climbing crystals along the outside until you get to the 2F entrance at the northeast end of this area.

As soon as you enter, you’ll see a Youngster circling a yellow totem. Ignore them for now and head along the west passage.

Follow the western passage along until it leads to a ladder up to 3F.

When you arrive on this floor, surf north across the pond and head east.

Take the first water path south and you’ll see an orange totem – activate it, and then head back along the passage to the ladder. Take that ladder down to 2F and go west.

On the way, you’ll see the ninth emerald lying in the corner of the passage.

Emerald #10
Go back to where the yellow totem and the Youngster are at, and activate the totem – you’ll probably have to fight the Youngster in the process.

Then go north through the passage. You’ll see the tenth and final emerald there.

Delivering All Emeralds
Now you can deactivate the yellow and red totems and climb down Crystal Peak again to get to the totem chamber.
Then, activate all the totems again to get back to the passage with the Kindler.
The Kindler gives you the Jade Orb as a reward.
