Be in the post-game Start the Portal Purge mission Ensure it’s daytime

Fly to the Redwood Village Pokemon Center and go south.

Continue south to enter Redwood Forest.

Take the first path west after entering the maze area.

From here, take the east exit.

Then go west again.

You’ll reach an area with an old lady NPC. From here, you want to return back from where you came by going north.

This path will take you to a small opening with the portal that has Xerneas.
