Your next destination is Crystal Peak, and to get there you’ll have to traverse through Cootes Bog.
It’s a massive swamp, and it can be reached by going north of Polder Town.
You’ll see two people with missions available, including one from Tessy, the Polder Gym leader. Ignore hers for now because it will make exploration a little difficult.
It’s helpful to first clear out the trainers that are in the areas where we’d go for the mission, so that’d be another benefit to wait.

Instead, take the mission from the scientist here. It’s pretty straightforward – catch all of the different Pokémon that are present in Cootes Bog.
Using the DexNav to track them is useful. Pokémon acquired through fishing count too.
There are two paths you can take from the entrance – left and right. Head left first.

You’ll have to pick between two more paths to take – the left will take you to a pond to cross, and the right leads through long grass.
Take the right path for now – they both end up essentially in the same place.

You’ll pass under a wooden bridge, and Pokémon Ranger Betty is here to challenge you.
After you beat her, keep heading east through the long grass and you’ll see a hook-shaped pond.

East of this pond is the path to Crystal Peak – remember its location for later.
Surf north to the upper part of the hook.

Jump out of the pond onto the west bank and head west through the long grass to challenge Pokémon Ranger Mason.

There are dead ends and duplicate trails to his north and west, so the only thing to do after defeating him is head back where you came from.

There’s another pond here – Surf along it and you’ll pass under yet another wooden bridge.

At the other end of the pond, take the west path through the long grass and you’ll see someone trying to hide in it.

This is Ninja Boy Yokohama, and he isn’t as hidden as he thinks he is.
Go past him to the north and you’ll come to another important intersection.

The gate to Magnolia Town is to the west of this junction. It’s recommended to go there briefly to acquire the Fly fast travel point, just so you can come back to it when it’s time to explore the town.
After doing that, walk east and you’ll see a ladder leading up to a wooden platform.

Challenge Aroma Lady Denise here and move past her to the east, where you’ll finally be on one of those wooden bridges you’ve been seeing everywhere.

You’ll get to a wooden platform with a ladder down into a small clearing. Go south and you’ll see a Picnicker.

Once you’ve defeated her, climb up the other ladder and cross the long bridge across the treetops to another clearing.

Climb down the ladders and go through the wild grass east to another platform.

There’s a trainer here – Scientist Marvin.
Once you’ve defeated him just cross the bridge, which is the longest in the bog and takes you all the way over to the west part of the bog.

Once you’re at the platform at the end, go south and you’ll encounter Psychic Hector.

There’s one final bridge for you to cross, and it’s just south of him.

Cross it, and you’ll pass over where you fought the first Pokémon Ranger.

There’s a Trainer Tips sign on the other side, and just south of there is the entrance to the bog.

You’ve come full circle, and with all trainers in your way cleared, it’s time to take Tessy’s mission on.
Protector of the Swamp Mission

It turns out that the Terror Granbull moved on to Cootes Bog and want to take over Polder Town as their little kingdom. You’ll be teaming up with Tessy in a series of Double Battles to get rid of them.

The way forward is to either take the bridge path back to where Scientist Hector was, or go north along the pond way and jump the cliff west.
You’ll eventually run into two Granbull goons itching for a fight.

Continue to follow the bridge path, past where Scientist Marvin was, and you’ll run into another pair of Granbull goons.

Eventually, you’ll be led all the way back through the entire length of the bridge route to the north end of the bog and near the Magnolia Town entrance.
There’s a third pair of Goons here, and once you pass them, head southeast.

The Goons who stole Tessy’s Swampert are in a clearing here, watching a Feraligatr and a Drapion fight.
Confronting them will set off a chain of boss battles, so be prepared.

When you finish battling the goons, the Feraligatr and the Drapion will team up to beat you.
After that, things take a turn for the unexpected.

Using a trap provided to them by the Science Society, the Feraligatr suddenly Dynamaxes, and you’ll have to beat it in a Dynamax battle!

It’s a tough battle, but at the end of it the Granbull Goons are driven out of the swamp and Tessy has her Swampert back.
In gratitude, she gives you TM120 Nature Power.

Detour to Magnolia Town
Now before you head off to Crystal Peak, it’s worth it to visit Magnolia Town.
Go to the gate entrance, or Fly there if you already have the fast travel point.

It’s a pretty small town, but there are a couple places worth going to.

You’ll see that the west side of town has a field of Miltank and Tauros in it – this is the famous Moomoo Farm, home of Moomoo Milk.
Head inside the house to the north of the field and you can meet the farmer himself.

Like the market stall in Fallshore City, you can buy Moomoo Milk here by the bottle or the dozen, and for a healing item that restores 100HP, the dozen option is still a pretty good deal.

Speaking to the man to the right of the farmhouse will give you a bit of a scavenger hunt mission. You’ll have to hunt down 19 variants in West and East Borrius. A few are in areas you haven’t been to yet, but most have now appeared where you’ve explored before.
You don’t need to capture them, just defeat them and they’ll return to the trainer.
You can try and catch them if you wish, though be aware their catching difficulty is extremely high.
If you manage to see all 19, the collector will give you the 20th variant, which is the Poke Ball pattern. It’s Shiny as well.

The large building east of there is the Magnolia Cafe, which acts as a sort of specialty Poke Mart for the town.

There are a number of daily events that can go on in the Magnolia Cafe, and they vary depending on whether you’re in the main story or in the post-game.
But for now just collect 4 Max Ethers from the man at the counter. Then head to the house to the east of the Pokémon Center and go inside – there’s another thing happening daily here that might be interesting.

Answer the questions in the ‘Pep Quiz’ every day, and every day you’ll get a reward.

And after this, it’s time to head to Crystal Peak.
Leaving Town

We’re now ready to head to Crystal Peak.
To make things easier, fly back to Polder Town and head to the southern part of the Bog and we’ll continue from there.
