Route 8 is long and winding, so make sure to pay attention to the map in this guide and the directions if you’re at risk of getting lost.

Emerging into a hailstorm / Pokémon Unbound
Emerging into a hailstorm

Note: As soon as you’re out of the cave, there is Hail all around, which means that every battle will be affected by it. If your Pokémon is:

  • Not Ice-type
  • Doesn’t have a held item like the Safety Goggles
  • Or doesn’t have an ability like Magic Guard

Then it will take damage every turn.

Walk north until you see Nurse Patty, who will be a welcome sight.

Nurse Patty will heal you if you beat her / Pokémon Unbound
Nurse Patty will heal you if you beat her

Like the other Nurses, she will heal you only if you manage to beat her.

Once that’s taken care of, heal up and head further north into the icy wilderness.

Youngster Eddie / Pokémon Unbound

You’ll find Youngster Eddie, and once you beat him head north up the stairs.

Then walk east until you see a blond female trainer.

Battle Girl Jessica / Pokémon Unbound
Battle Girl Jessica

That’s Battle Girl Jessica, and after beating her take note of her location – you’ll have to come back here a bit later.

Go north until you find another set of stairs.

At the fork, turn east and keep going that direction until you see a Black Belt with a mission for you.

The Black Belt gives you a mission to jump off cliffs / Pokémon Unbound
The Black Belt gives you a mission to jump off cliffs

He tells you to jump over cliffs 555 times, which might be a tall order. He does take into account any jumps you have made up until this point, however.

If you ever manage to complete his mission, your reward is 60 Carbos, which is quite the prize.

After you’ve dealt with that, continue east until you find another staircase leading south. The path will curve around to go west along that lower level.

Continue south and you’ll run into Black Belt Mike; once he’s been beaten, walk east from here until you see a frozen pond.

After you’re on the other side, continue north.

The path will keep going north until you see a series of wooden bridges.

You’ll run into Camper Shane on the way, but eventually after crossing the three wooden bridge spans you’ll come to the western ledge.
