As soon as you enter Frost Mountain, you’ll see your Rival get smacked down by Ivory. He’s knocked out cold.
Walk north and you’ll find him pretty easily.
Rival Battle

Unfazed by his recent defeat, he challenges you to a battle – but not before telling you about getting his Pokedex upgraded in Blizzard City.

After defeating him he leaves, and you can explore the rest of the cave.
Walk north and you’ll see a passage west.

Walk down that passage and you’ll see Collector Cooper, the first trainer to challenge you in Frost Mountain.

Once he’s been beaten, you’ll see an intersection of sorts. Jumping down the cliff will get you some items and a bonus trainer battle.
But if you want progress, choose the north passage.

The passage hooks around.
Follow it until you see a set of stairs leading upwards, passing a bridge and Black Belt Aaron underneath it on the way.

Climb the stairs and continue west until you are able to cross the bridge. You’ll see Hiker Allen guarding a ladder to the second floor.

After the Hiker has been taken care of, climb the ladder.

The first thing you notice is a bunch of ramps and round boulders to the north, but they’re inaccessible to you at the moment.
Walk east and follow the passage, it will eventually hook around to the west.

You’ll get challenged by Hiker Eric, and then you’ll be able to pass him to head north. This floor is relatively straightforward, and you’ll see a ladder exit soon.

Super Nerd Jovan is your final obstacle in Frost Mountain – after he’s done, climb up the narrow staircase and you’ll find a ladder to the final level.

The final level is just an empty cave though, and the exit is not far to the west.

Route 8 is long and winding, so make sure to pay attention to the map in this guide and the directions if you’re at risk of getting lost.

Note: As soon as you’re out of the cave, there is Hail all around, which means that every battle will be affected by it. If your Pokémon is:
- Not Ice-type
- Doesn’t have a held item like the Safety Goggles
- Or doesn’t have an ability like Magic Guard
Then it will take damage every turn.
Walk north until you see Nurse Patty, who will be a welcome sight.

Like the other Nurses, she will heal you only if you manage to beat her.
Once that’s taken care of, heal up and head further north into the icy wilderness.

You’ll find Youngster Eddie, and once you beat him head north up the stairs.
Then walk east until you see a blond female trainer.

That’s Battle Girl Jessica, and after beating her take note of her location – you’ll have to come back here a bit later.
Go north until you find another set of stairs.

At the fork, turn east and keep going that direction until you see a Black Belt with a mission for you.

He tells you to jump over cliffs 555 times, which might be a tall order. He does take into account any jumps you have made up until this point, however.
If you ever manage to complete his mission, your reward is 60 Carbos, which is quite the prize.
After you’ve dealt with that, continue east until you find another staircase leading south. The path will curve around to go west along that lower level.

Continue south and you’ll run into Black Belt Mike; once he’s been beaten, walk east from here until you see a frozen pond.

The pond is pretty easy to get across, no real puzzle solution required.
After you’re on the other side, continue north.

The path will keep going north until you see a series of wooden bridges.

Picnicker Isabelle is on the right side of this little gully, so you can battle or avoid her if you wish.
Keep going under the bridges until you see an opportunity to get on the same level as them.

You’ll run into Camper Shane on the way, but eventually after crossing the three wooden bridge spans you’ll come to the western ledge.

Once you’re on solid rock and snow, keep going west through a couple of patches of long grass until you see an opportunity to go north.

Head through the narrow passage north and you’ll run into Camper Evans.
Once he’s been defeated, continue along the path and it’ll lead you west.

Keep going west until you run into a fairly large patch of long grass.

Once on the other side of that, the entrance to Blizzard City awaits to the north.

Note: On the way in, a Skier doesn’t battle us but gives us a Casteliacone instead.

After all that trekking across a landscape full of hail, you will have finally made it to Blizzard City.

Finding the Missing Boy
As soon as you arrive, go to the first house you see.

You’ll eventually notice that all the Blizzard City houses are fairly large and full of people to talk to.

The Juggler on the ground floor here will give you TM118 Aurora Veil for free, which is nice.
There’s also a Black Belt on this floor that will teach you Ice Punch for 2 Blue Shards.
Climb up the stairs to the north and you’ll see a woman who wants to give you a job.

The woman’s brother is missing and you’ll need to head back out onto Route 8 to find him.
Remember where the blonde-haired trainer was earlier? The kid will now be there, behind a small bush you can cut down.

After you talk to him, he’ll follow you all the way back to Blizzard City.

After you’ve returned her brother, the woman gives you TM27 Return, which is kind of appropriate.
Once you’ve done all you can in this house, continue west until you find the next one with a door.

This house has a couple of useful things inside, so go on in.
The Vs. Seeker

There’s a woman on the ground floor who will exchange the Berry she asks for every day for another type of Berry.
Head upstairs, and you’ll get a useful item.

The man upstairs gives you the VS Seeker, which will help you find trainers that want to battle you again, useful for training.
Finding the Pokécenter

West of here is the Pokémon Center, and a free ride to Crater Town from a Staraptor if that’s what you want.

If you show a Pokémon that can still evolve to the Breeder in the Pokémon Center, he’ll give you an Eviolite. This will boost the Defense and Special Defense of a Pokémon that holds it – if it’s not fully evolved.

Going north to the next ring of houses will show you that Ivory is here and her mission has apparently been a success. She freezes the entrance to the KBT Expressway before leaving.
Visiting More Houses

The next house you’ll need to visit is the Gym Leader’s house, which is on the northwest side of the middle ring of houses.

Alicia, the daughter of Gym Leader Alice, will offer to trade us an Electrode holding an Amulet Coin for an Onix. You can catch Onix in Frost Mountain if you’d like to.

Once that’s done, head inside the door on the right side of the middle row of houses and you’ll get another mission.

On the ground floor you’ll find a woman who has had her Pokémon stolen. Accept her mission for now, and you can complete it in a little while.
Then head upstairs and speak to the woman on the couch for a bit of a challenge.

Candice is a visiting Gym leader from Sinnoh, and she puts up a bit of a fight.

Having multiple Pokémon that can take care of Ice-types is essential here, because Candice will switch out Pokémon at will and try and make the battle a lot harder than it needs to be.
After beating her, she’ll give you an Ice Gem. You can repeat this every day.

This floor also has Professor Log’s sister on it – Nat Log.
She’s the one who upgraded your Rival’s Pokedex, and if you have caught at least 15 Pokémon, she’ll do it for you too.

Her assistant will handle any questions you may have about its new functions.
The other young lady here is Ayla, the Bill of Borrius. She’s the one in charge of Pokémon Storage.
Finding the Mart

Talk to the man wandering around the Poke Mart and he’ll give you a Sharp Beak, which will come in handy if you have any Flying-type Pokémon.
Then, head inside the Mart.

If you have an Eevee, the blonde woman inside the Mart will give you an Ice Stone if you show it to her.

If you walk to the northwest, you’ll eventually see the Blizzard City Gym and its unique design.
Before going inside to beat it though, it’s best you take care of some other things first.
Getting Rock Smash (And Other Tasks)

East of the Gym, in the northeast part of town, is where the cutscene showed Ivory earlier. Worker Alan will challenge us to battle his Pokémon, and you can do this as many times as you like.
Worker Alan | |

Carbink Rock/Fairy (Lv.26) |

After beating him to your satisfaction, head inside the house here.

This is the house of the man you’re supposed to talk to about Rock Smash, and the whole point of trekking up to Blizzard City in the first place.
He gives you HM06 Rock Smash as soon as you ask for it.

The old lady inside this house gives you a recipe for a pie.
After you give her the ingredients she will give you two more sets of ingredients to fetch before giving you a final reward – 3 Gold Bottle Caps.

That’s it for Blizzard City for now – you’ve got a missing Pokémon to find.
Walking south towards the town entrance will reveal a shady man in a black hat leaving to go east to a deep forest.

Follow him, and you’ll find the way to Frozen Forest.
